The Play Project
For this project, each class was assigned to brainstorm, develop, and ultimately produce a play to be presented in front of the school. Each play would be given a number of awards depending on what the judges think they deserved. I worked on set design for the winning play: "The Art of Almost." Which sheds light on the still evident problem of racial profiling in the United States. My job was to design, build and maintain set props that were used on stage. Since it took place in a public school a lot of the props could be used in multiple scenes. Two of the bigger props I helped build was a bus sign, and a hallway bench. One of the smaller props we used was a television camera to be used in the chorus. Here is one of the initial write-ups that we made at the beginning of the project.
